CHCS: Can you see your data?

By working closely with selected military installations, we have opened up the wealth of the data to those at the installation/hospital level. In essence, we gave the local Commanders or Hospital Administrators access to data when they needed it, in the format they wanted, and most importantly, in real time - with little load on their current medical system and with very little user training.

TMIP: Providing critical health services in-theater

Theater Medical Information Program (TMIP) utilizes CHCS NT running on Caché to provide a mobile, interoperable medical information system to support theater health services in combat and contingency operations.  The open nature of Caché readily allows global capability linking theater medical information databases and integration centers that are accessible to the war fighter anywhere, at any time, to support the mission.

DoD and VA Data Sharing

The Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs will work together to create a common inpatient e-medical records system.  Officials of both departments announced the initiative on January 23, 2007, instantly dubbed AHLTA-VistA, at a meeting of the American Health Information Community.  Since the DoD and the VHA currently utilize Caché, data sharing using InterSystems technology greatly reduces the technical and economic hurdles for a common medical records system.

InterSystems and the Indian Health Service

For over two decades, InterSystems has helped the Indian Health Service keep their health information systems running smoothly – even with minimal staff in remote locations.  They have used our reliable and cost-effective technology to create one of the world’s most efficiently run government organizations.  With limited funding, the Indian Health Service and the Self-determination sites have been able to focus on their goal “to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level” – without worrying about database maintenance and support.

Resource and Patient Management System and Caché

Based on Caché, the RPMS is a mission-critical integrated solution for the management of clinical, business practice, and administrative information in healthcare facilities.  The system supports over 557 federally recognized tribes in 35 states, including both Federal and Tribal entities.  The Federal system consists of 33 hospitals, 59 health centers, and 50 health stations. The Tribal, or Self-determination, sites include both American Indian Tribes and Alaska Native corporations, and consist of another 15 hospitals, 221 health centers, 9 residential treatment centers, 97 health stations, and 176 Alaska village clinics.  The IHS Federal clinical staff has approximately 2,700 nurses, 900 physicians, 400 engineers, 500 pharmacists, 300 dentists, and 150 sanitarians.  RPMS has a newly enhanced user-friendly interface called Electronic Health Record (EHR) that provides quick and efficient viewing of patient data.
